San Diego experiences 7,000 foreclosures in July 2008. There were more than 7,100 bank owned properties and more than 2,000 listed for sale on the San Diego MLS..which only means that 5,000 more homes are expected to get repossessed from delinquent homeowners and should be very soon for sale on the MLS. Housing foreclosures are expected to continue through the end of 2009 for San Diego. There are currently over 12,000 San Diego homes in notice of default and a third of them are expected to go onto foreclosure auction within the next 90 days.

Oceanside and Escondido dominated San Diego County’s foreclosure filings. For the first time, Carlsbad posted a significant increase in foreclosures with 54 but low when compared with other North County areas.
