What is a Borrower cannot pay their mortgage?

  • Are you a victim of a disaster? If the property has been damaged or destroyed by a tropical storm, tornado, flood, hurricane or other disaster, follow Freddic Mac’s guidelines.
  • Are you a service member on or recently released from active duty? There are special financial relief options in place for service members through the Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Freddie Mac’s own policies.
  • Is the borrower eligible eligible for a reinstatement, relief option, or workout? Finding a workout option with the lender can yield a positive outcome and allow the borrower to remain in their home and reduce the impact of delinquency on their credit rating.
  • What if the borrower can no longer afford to keep their home? Are they eligible for a make-whole preforeclosure sale, short payoff or deed in lieu of foreclosure?
